About Us

President's Message

The North American Clinical Dermatologic Society (NACDS) is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1959. Its primary mission is to provide dermatology educational opportunities though annual meetings with worldwide dermatology academic centres. These educational experiences foster camaraderie with our foreign colleagues, allowing for dynamic interaction with faculty members of renowned university programs and local practicing dermatologists. The NACDS website highlights the NACDS founders’ mission and goals as the countries, cities, academic centres, and societies visited over our 60 Annual Meetings reflect. The academic sessions allow for new treatments and diagnostic information that improves our practices. In these settings, friendships are established with fellow NACDS members and host dermatologists who become Honorary Members after our visits. As President of the NACDS it is my pleasure to serve our outstanding members and spouses from all aspects of dermatology and medicine. There is no other dermatology group which allows such an intimate relationship between its members and our hosts in such vibrant/exotic locations. We impact the exchange of international dermatologic and medical information while experiencing foreign travel in unparalleled settings. I encourage you to review our past itineraries, as well as the quality of our scientific programs (approved for AMA Category I CME credits) and encourage you to join us at one of our future Annual Meetings!

Mission Statement

The North American Clinical Dermatologic Society provides clinical education opportunities with visits to medical institutions worldwide. This educational experience and travel fosters close friendships while enjoying other cultures.

History

The North American Clinical Dermatologic Society is a not for profit organization and was founded in 1959. It was conceived by Charles Oclassen and a group of dermatologists who met in the Westwood hospitality suite during an annual American Academy of Dermatology meeting. They envisioned the formation of a group that would emphasize education primarily focused on clinical dermatology and would incorporate visits to academic centers worldwide.

Over more than fifty years, the NACDS has grown into a vibrant, thriving association of board certified dermatologists and dermatopathologists who share a common interest in the practice of dermatology and high quality CME. Meetings have been held in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. Being a small organization of physicians who share a passion for dermatology, members of the NACDS enjoy the benefits of good fellowship, develop long standing relationships with colleagues both in private practice and academic medicine, and share great travel experiences. New members are welcome and may join through sponsorship by existing members.
