The NACDS welcomes all its members and invites new members to sunny Italy in 2025! This year’s meeting will include visits to celebrated dermatology departments at renowned university centers in important historic cities in Italy with an opportunity to attend the XIV International Congress of Dermatology (ICD) in Rome and participate in the NACDS’ own sister society session at the ICD on June 18th as part of this year’s annual meeting. As usual, this year’s meeting will include off-the-beaten-path experiences such as a traditional Venetian masked ball for the annual President’s banquet, a cooking class and wine tasting at a Tuscan villa and winery, and our farewell banquet in a thirteenth century medieval castle.

Discovering Venice Walking Tour. Venice has over 100 islands and 400 bridges that are barely 7 kilometres long and three and a half wide, everything is done by foot or boat.

Walk through the labyrinth of the city crossing the famed Rialto Bridge to enjoy a breathtaking view of the Grand Canal before we walk along the canals and into St. Mark’s Square to see the famous bell tower.

Construction of the Basilica of St. Mark, which began in 828 and ended in 832, was made to house the body of St. Mark the Apostle brought from Alexandria who they named protector of the city.

Built in the 900’s (after the first palace was burned down), Doge’s Palace Gothic style was described by John Ruskin as “the great work of Venice,” the construction of which employed Venice’s “best architects in its masonry, and the “best painters in its decoration…”. The palace was the command center of the republic until it was conquered by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1797.
